This is an embossed black leather with a matte finish and is absolutely gorgeous! I am absolutely in love with it, and this is the very last slice of it. I've been saving it for a while, letting it marinade with me so that I can put proper thought into its final design. As you can see, I've decided to etch a piece of copper as the base, and I created the ankh out of german silver. I sawed out the shape from sheet metal and then textured it with a ball peen hammer. Once I had the desired finish, I riveted it onto the etched copper plate and then connected the whole assembly to the front of this tome with patinaed brass wire. Each "staple" goes through the leather and is hand-bent on backside to permanently attach. I am thrilled with how this piece turned out, and I hope it finds a loving home in your hands!
